Remember Immigrants this Veteran’s Day

Tomorrow marks Veteran’s Day — a day where we reflect on the great contributions of those who serve our nation in the Armed Forces…including immigrants. Many immigrants serve our country in the Armed Forces, and many immigrant soldiers become naturalized U.S. citizens during their service.

Immigrant soldiers often provide invaluable services such as foreign-language translators, cultural experts, and interpreters among many others. In fact, Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), the first Republican cosponsor of the House immigration bill H.R.15, introduced a bill earlier this year called the Encourage New Legalized Immigrants to Start Training (ENLIST) Act, which would allow unauthorized immigrants to become Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) by serving in the Armed Forces.

Take a moment today to honor and thank the many veterans — including immigrants — who so nobly serve our country.
