JCPA Plenum Addresses Immigration Reform

Last week, the 2014 JCPA Plenum in Atlanta, Georgia featured a discussion about immigration reform with representatives from HIAS and Welcoming America, an organization that works to create a welcoming atmosphere in which immigrants are more likely to integrate into the social fabric of their adopted hometowns. The discussion addressed the joint campaign of JCPA and HIAS, Immigration Nation, which has engaged dozens of communities and thousands of individuals in advocating for just reform of the immigration system. Panelists also addressed questions related to Jewish community policy priorities related to refugees and asylum seekers within the broader immigration debate, grassroots organizing, and coalition building with members of the business community and other important stakeholders in this debate.
