Upcoming World Refugee Day Events

There are two exciting events coming up for World Refugee Day, which is June 20th.

The first will take place on June 15th at 4 PM ET.  The Interfaith Immigration Coalition will be hosting a webinar entitled ‘Standing in Solidarity with Refugees on World Refugee Day and Beyond’.  This webinar will include advocacy updates about Syrian refugees, protections for Central American children and families fleeing violence, and positive refugee legislation. The webinar will discuss how people of faith can advocate around these important issues. To attend the webinar, you can RSVP here.  The call in number for the webinar is 805-399-1000, Code 104402.  You can access the visual portion of the webinar here:  http://join.me/faith4immigration.

The second event is a World Refugee Day Virtual Town Hall featuring Congressman Keith Ellison (MN-05) on June 16th at 6:00pm ET.  Congressman Ellison will join the call to celebrate World Refugee Day and discuss the importance of his bill—The Strengthening Refugee Resettlement Act of 2015.  Representative Ellison will be joined by two of his constituents that will share their experiences as refugees.  Other advocates and stakeholders will also join to answer questions and share their perspectives. To join the town hall and pose questions for Representative Ellison, RSVP here.  The phone number will be sent to you via email. Please contact Elizabeth Mandelman at HIAS (elizabeth.mandelman@hias.org) with any questions.
